Three Boards, One Vehicle: Our On-Site Integration Story at BAIC
On July 14, 2026, HUNOVATE's R&D lead took the team into BAIC Group's vehicle plant to integrate the instant water dispenser drive control boards (3 boards) used in the HUAWEI STELATO G9 tailgate kitchen. The first batch shipped in early August, the G9 launched on August 20, and a second batch was delivered in mid-September.
A Real "From Board to Vehicle" Project
Boiling Water Is "Simple" — Until You Put It in a Vehicle
Inside the HUAWEI STELATO G9 tailgate kitchen kit sits a device officially named the instant water dispenser: powered through the vehicle's 220V V2L outlet at 2.2kW rated power, with five temperature levels from ambient to 95°C — convenient for brewing tea and mixing milk.
It sounds like a simple water heater, but inside a vehicle the bar is completely different: 2.2kW must be drawn from the vehicle inverter without wasting a watt; heating, pumping and temperature control must stay stable under the vehicle's EMI and vibration environment; the outlet temperature must be exactly what the user set; and every step from board to mass production must pass a vehicle supply chain's high-standard review.
This is exactly where HUNOVATE's two core capability lines apply — motor drive control and PFC front-end rectification. We turned them into three drive control boards, and put them into this vehicle.
Why "Instant": No Tank, Heat on Demand
An instant water dispenser works by "flow-through heating": water is not stored and boiled in a tank — it is heated to the set temperature the moment it flows through the heating chamber.
1. Instant vs Storage Heating
Traditional water dispensers and kettles work by "boiling a whole tank", then keep it warm continuously — standby loss adds up day after day; and a large water tank in the boot is neither safe nor practical. Instant heating is flow-through heating: cold water is pumped through the heating chamber, heating power is applied in real time, and the outlet temperature is closed-loop controlled by "flow rate × heating power". The result: no tank, no standby loss, stable outlet temperature, compact size — a natural fit for vehicle V2L power.
2. Three Boards, One Complete Chain
Following the industry-standard architecture of instant water dispensers, the complete drive control set (3 boards) covers three functional domains: power conversion, power heating and motor drive control — from the 220V V2L input to hot water at the set temperature, every step is real power/drive engineering.
Three Engineering Challenges, Three Boards' Response
1. Use Every Watt of 2.2kW on a Vehicle V2L Outlet
At 2.2kW, the load is far above the IEC 61000-3-2 harmonic threshold that makes an active PFC front end effectively mandatory (>75W), and vehicle inverters plus 10A socket ratings are even more current-sensitive — so the front end must do high-power-factor rectification: low harmonics, no wasted vehicle battery energy, no pollution of the vehicle power network. HUNOVATE has long-term single-phase PFC design expertise, exemplified by our in-house HPS3K3-380 3.3kW bidirectional SiC digital PFC module; a 2.2kW high-power-factor front end is this capability applied to vehicle appliances.
2. "What You Set Is What You Get" for Water Temperature
The five temperature levels are driven by a "pump flow × heating power" closed loop: flow is precisely controlled by motor drive, heating power is adjusted in real time by power devices, and closed-loop temperature control keeps the outlet temperature stable regardless of water pressure or input voltage fluctuation.
3. Reliability in a Vehicle Environment
Vibration, high/low temperature, EMI, supply dips — every board is designed, tested and validated to automotive-grade standards. Our development process validates "water circuit + electrical circuit" together: power analyzer measurements, long-duration water-loop aging, and step-by-step power-on/off and protection rehearsals.
When the Engineer Stands Next to the Vehicle, the Real Test Begins
Every performance figure validated in the lab must be re-tested in the real vehicle environment: supply fluctuation, vehicle EMI, harness routing, installation space. That is why our R&D lead personally led the team to BAIC Group's vehicle plant to complete the integration of the three boards.
Before Getting On the Vehicle, Every Board Is Verified the Hard Way
An instant water dispenser is a system where power and water flow are tightly coupled, so our development process validates "water circuit + electrical circuit" together: power analyzer measurements, long-duration water-loop aging, and step-by-step power-on/off and protection rehearsals.
From On-Site Integration to First Delivery
What This Project Tells Customers About Us
From board design to vehicle integration and mass-production delivery — a complete "control board → vehicle platform" path, not a sample or a slide deck.
Our R&D lead personally joined on-site integration; issues were seen and fixed on the spot — exactly the responsiveness vehicle projects need.
The three boards' technology stack (PFC front-end × motor drive × closed-loop temperature control) is reusable across vehicle kitchen appliances, RV appliances, energy storage appliances and commercial water boilers.
Why a Supplier Like Us Is Worth Trying
We are not a jack-of-all-trades. We go deep on two lines — motor drive control, and PFC front-end rectifier power modules.
We design and mass-produce a 3.3kW bidirectional SiC digital PFC module (HPS3K3-380, peak efficiency at 99% level, PF≥0.99). A 2.2kW-class high-power-factor front end is this capability applied to vehicle appliances.
Pump drive precision directly decides outlet temperature stability. Years of home-appliance motor drive expertise make the temperature "what you set is what you get".
From power-stage design and protection logic to vehicle vibration/temperature/EMC validation and production delivery — the whole loop has already been proven on a top-tier vehicle platform.
